Meet the team of Feeding the Carolinas! Our knowledgeable and passionate staff work alongside our Board of Directors to get us closer to ending hunger in the Carolinas.
Mike Darrow became the Executive Director of Feeding the Carolinas in September 2018. With extensive experience in executive leadership positions in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors, Mike is driven by a servant’s heart – helping people and mobilizing resources to solve problems and get results.
Mike’s for-profit experience includes operations and marketing positions with Food Lion, Sara Lee/Hanes brands and Lexington Home Brands. In the non-profit sector, Mike served as Executive Director of the North Carolina Association of Free Clinics, serving the uninsured with their healthcare needs. Mike also was Chief Program Officer for the American Health Initiative, focused on recruiting retired healthcare professionals to bring their skills and experience to free clinics across the country through volunteering.
Mike earned his undergraduate degree at Cornell University and his Master of Business Administration at Wake Forest University’s School of Business. Mike also earned the Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University and is a Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) through the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Mike lives in Lexington, NC, with his wife Amy and has three children and four grandchildren.
Cindy has 20 years in the produce industry including procurement, operations, general management, logistics, sales and marketing. She is a results-focused effectual leader with proven ability to proactively identify and resolve problems. Cindy’s experience includes expanding business, increasing revenues, exceptional execution, initiate and ensuring operational efficiencies with excellent communication skills.
Cindy attended the State University of New York College at Brockport where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Cindy lives in Clayton, NC with her husband Kevin, and has a daughter and granddaughter.
Erica King joined Feeding the Carolinas in March 2021. Erica has experience in accounting, dairy farming, agriculture, and food safety and has strong computer and communication skills.
She was raised in North Georgia and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Science with a concentration in Production and Management at Berry College in Rome, GA as well as an Associate of Science in Accounting Technology.
Erica, her husband, and their son currently reside in Brunswick, GA with their two dogs and rabbit.
A native of the Carolinas, Tina grew up on a farm and developed a passion for food. She believes that this passion coupled with the desire to help others, will be instrumental to her role. Tina brings her background with the NCORR HOPE Program and other organizations, as well as a strong work ethic and skillset, to help support the mission of Feeding the Carolinas.
Tina currently resides in Kernersville, NC and has three children and one grandchild.
