Expand Access to Food
WE ADVOCATE
Through the budget process and other actions, we advocate for the protection and expansion of programs to support individuals and families most at risk of being food insecure.
WE PARTNER
We support and partner with state agencies (such as the Department of Agriculture) to streamline policies and state systems around food access and distribution.
WE SUPPORT
We support policies to increase food donation and the ability to utilize excess food, to avoid it going to waste.*
*Our member Food Banks also support programs that provide resources to allow for innovative food access programs.
Disaster Preparation + Response
WE SUPPORT
We support programs and policies related to disaster preparation and response that assist Food Banks.
WE SUPPORT
We support efforts related to disaster preparedness and the role that food accessibility plays in the emergency/disaster preparedness and response.
WE PARTNER
We work closely with the state’s Emergency Management department in times of crisis to identify and support efforts to make disaster response more efficient and effective.
Provide Healthy, Nutritious Food
WE SUPPORT
We support efforts to provide healthy, nutritious food to Carolinians in need.
WE UNDERSTAND
We understand the importance of food insecurity to social determinants of health, and we support efforts to address bothe with a focus on quality nutrition.

We support partnerships, policies, and programs that positively impact the health and wellness of people in the Carolinas and their ability to access nutritious food.
Protect + Strengthen Programs that Fight Hunger
WE SUPPORT
We support eliminating barriers for eligible people to access and utilize government assistance programs.
WE SUPPORT
We support continuation of expanded benefits and waivers providing more people with more food.*
WE SUPPORT
We support maximizing funding, capacity, and outreach to connect eligible people with existing food assistance programs so they can use benefits regardless of where they live.
*We help alleviate demand on the charitable food assistance network and educate the public and elected officials about the inability of the charitable food assistance network alone to meet demand.
Protect + Strengthen the Charitable Food Assistance Network
WE INVEST
We invest in expanded capacity and infrastructure for the charitable food assistance network in the form of buildings, equipment, staff, and other non-food necessities.
WE PROVIDE
We provide resources for our member Food Banks and their networks of community pantries.*
WE EXPAND
We expand FTC’s Farm to Food Bank surplus fresh produce donation program to connect excess food with communities in need across the Carolinas.
*We encourage the increase of food and funds for the charitable food assistance network, including through appropriations for food banks to purchase Carolinas-sourced food.
