Food Insecurity In the Carolinas
Did you know that 1 in 7 people in the Carolinas are food insecure? That includes over 600,000 children. But, all 10 of our food banks are playing their role in the fight to end hunger.

Congress passed the Budget Reconciliation Bill (HR 1) on July 4th, 2025. This bill cut funding for SNAP, eliminating millions of meals for people in the Carolinas. We are already experiencing record levels of need. As SNAP goes into effect, our food banks and pantries will have an impossible gap to fill. Learn more about what we face in our latest blog series.

In the spring of 2024, Feeding the Carolinas partnered with NC SNAC and SC SNAC to develop the Carolinas Food Access Survey. The goal of the report was to identify food security gaps and nutrition needs within the Carolinas. Check out the entire report including strategies and next steps.
