About Us

Feeding the Carolinas –
Educating, Engaging and Uniting to achieve food security for all in the Carolinas

Feeding the Carolinas is North and South Carolina’s network of food banks working to solve hunger. Our network unites 10 member food banks to provide a healthy, adequate, and consistent food supply to every community every day. Feeding the Carolinas member food banks support more than 3,700 local charitable agencies, which provide food directly to individuals and families in need to ensure a hunger-free Carolinas. Each year, the Feeding the Carolinas network provides food to the 2.3 million Carolinians facing hunger, including over 670,000 children. Feeding the Carolinas is a unified voice regarding hunger and food insecurity by focusing on each community’s needs.

We are a Partner Association of Feeding America, the nation’s leading hunger-relief organization. Each Feeding the Carolinas member food bank must meet stringent guidelines to be associated with Feeding America. This mutually beneficial, contracted relationship assures both financial and operational excellence. It also provides accountability through network training, site monitoring and the maintenance of substantial records verifying conformity with established Federal and State safe food handling standards.

Feeding the Carolinas is North and South Carolina’s only statewide hunger relief organization that continuously services all 146 counties. Our community-supported member food banks are private, non-governmental organizations, located in every corner of both states and have consistently high ratings from Charity Navigator.

“Feeding the Carolinas unites all ten food banks in North and South Carolina in the mission to end hunger across the Carolinas.  Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina is the only one of the ten food banks serving both states and is proud to be working with our peers to make sure every citizen in the Carolinas has a healthy, adequate and consistent food supply.  By sharing resources and best practices, we are working more efficiently to end hunger across all 146 counties in North and South Carolina.” – Kay Carter, CEO Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina

We have earned the Guidestar Platinum Level Seal of Transparency.
